Why Organic

...there are many discontents in agriculture which seem to add up to a new vision of "biotic farming." Perhaps the most important of these is the new evidence that poundage or tonnage is no measure of the food-value of farm crops; the products of fertile soil may be qualitatively as well as quantitatively superior. We can bolster poundage from depleted soils by pouring on imported fertility, but we are not necessarily bolstering food-value.

~Aldo Leopold, A Sand County Almanac (1949)

TayLee Organics and T & L Farms believes that growing healthy, organic food utilizing sustainable farming methods is one of the most noble professions that anyone could possibly have. Although we are a newly formed CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), we are confident in our seeds, soil and growing methods. And we are dedicated to providing the freshest, organically grown produce available. We are also committed to improving the health of our planet by utilizing sustainable farming methods. We believe that by doing so, we are helping others to improve their lives as well.

If you are new to the CSA concept, please rest assured that most people are. We are here to help you with any questions you may have. According to www.localharvest.org: "A CSA, (for Community Supported Agriculture) is a way for the food buying public to create a relationship with a farm and to receive a weekly basket of produce. By making a financial commitment to a farm, people become "members" (or "shareholders," or "subscribers") of the CSA. Most CSA farmers prefer that members pay for the season up-front, but some farmers will accept weekly or monthly payments. Some CSAs also require that members work a small number of hours on the farm during the growing season." We do offer payment options. Please see our application form for complete information.

A CSA season typically runs from late spring through early fall. The number of CSAs in the United States was estimated at 50 in 1990, and has since grown to over 2200. CSAs provide a variety of benefits to local communities including: assisting people in providing healthy fruits and vegetables to their families, supporting sustainable, alternative farming methods, assisting the local farmer in maintaining healthier farming practices, diminishing the affect of conventional farming methods contributing to the health of our planet.

We are now accepting applications for CSA shares. Our calendar along with share information will be posted soon! Please contact us for more information.
